Marmite Squeezy: Is Marmite Squeezy better or worse than normal Marmite?

I hope someone is taking note of all the adverse comments on the squeezy here! Glad to see someone else remembers thicker Marmite, I'm only 25 but sure it was thicker when I was a wee boy. What a ripoff.

I am pleased to see so many entries which dislike the squeezy bottle; it seems to me, a Marmite addict of 70 years experience, that this is just another con to force us to pay more for an inferior product. Like one of your replies, I also found a 500g jar at £5.29 at Somerfields, the only supermarket selling 500g jars, but Tesco sell the 250g jar at £2.97 which, times two, is a good deal cheaper. I also agree with your writer who dislikes the squeezing of Marmite, how can one control the amount needed that way? No, I won't buy a squeezy jar at any price let alone the inflated price for only 400g.

I like the squeezy bottle, but agree with the consistency. Guess it wouldn't squeeze through otherwise . .

The squeezy is a con! I complained some time ago to the marmite boys that when I was young (going back 50-odd years) marmite was thick and I noticed that over the last few years it was getting thinner, they denied this. Not sure how they can, as I know for a fact that in those days the consistancy of marmite was a little like a spreadable dripping. Now we have an even thinner marmite which when squeezed (thickly) onto a warm peice of toast, becomes like runny water!! :((

Its so annoying why do need to squeeze marmite i mean as much as i love marmite give the squeezy one to someone like me and you would end up with most the overpriced bottle in 1 sandwhich !!! :)

Good to know I'm not alone in disliking the squeezy. Who agrees with me that the sooner this nasty, dishonest gimmick is ended the better? I repeat, I will NOT buy squeezy Marmite and suggest that everyone else boycotts it likewise! Give the public the Marmite they like in the glass jars they want or the brand deserves to fail. Instead of tinkering with things for no better reason than to try and cheat the buying public by disguising huge price increases these people should go out and get a proper job doing something useful.

WORSE WORSE WORSE!!!!! I hate runny Marmite anyway. Also, as pointed out above, you have to take the lid off to get it all out. Most irritating and frustrating of all, in an attempt to force us to buy this horrible thing, the manufacturers seem to have stopped making the BIG Marmite Jar. How can any real Marmite lover survive without this? The little 250g jar lasts five minutes!!!

I managed to get a 500g glass jar the other day for £5.29. Of course the sizes are different to confuse the issue, but a little simple maths reveals the squeezy to be much more expensive - equivalent to £6.20 per 500g. Is squeezy Marmite just a ruse to hugely inflate the price by preventing people comparing like for like?

Am not liking the squeezy bottle at all. I miss being able to sink my knife in to all that lovely marmite! Also, i never know quite how much to squeeze...

Don't like the squeezy at all. There is something unpleasantly cheap and nasty about squeezy plastic bottles that is deeply off - putting, and I suspect it is also paying more for less. I love Marmite and have nearly run out - all the local shops have is squeezies, but I won't be buying any more until I can get a nice big glass jar again.

Given a choice it's Marmite from the glass jar but since having moved abroad, the squeezy bottles are a godsend, my Marmite delivery (courtesy of mummy) means it is even cheaper for me to get my (more than once daily) fix! hurrah!

to be honest i cant tell the differance between the guiness one and the normal untill i have one slice of toast with one and another slice with the other. so i'll have to do a comparison like that... the squizy bottle is ok but when you get near the bottom you have to take the lid off any way....

Only in consistency; to me the taste is identical. I prefer the glass jar, but as we are constantly travelling, weight is an issue. Visitors from the UK always bring out the squeezy variety.
